Project Overview
This self-initiated course was designed to address a common challenge in corporate environments: how to effectively lead individuals with varying levels of competence and confidence. Drawing on the Situational Leadership model, the course empowers frontline managers to adapt their leadership approach in real time, boosting engagement, performance, and retention.
Built with Rise 360 and Vyond, the course uses storytelling and scenario-based learning to reflect real workplace dynamics and decision-making. Animated team members represent common employee archetypes, helping learners recognize when to Direct, Coach, Support, or Delegate.
My Role
I designed and developed this course end-to-end, using my instructional design skills to translate a theoretical leadership model into an interactive, real-world learning experience. I:
Conducted audience analysis and mapped performance goals
Scripted realistic workplace scenarios based on the Situational Leadership framework
Created animated videos in Vyond to support storytelling and learner engagement
Built the responsive course in Rise 360 using a modular, learner-centred structure
Designed a downloadable job aid in Canva to support on-the-job application
Incorporated instructional design best practices and gathered peer feedback to refine flow and clarity
Tools Used
To bring this learning experience to life, I used a range of tools that helped me deliver professional-quality design and interactivity:
Rise 360 - to develop a responsive, structured course with interactive blocks
Vyond - to animate realistic team scenarios that support visual storytelling
Canva - to create a branded, printable job aid that reinforces key takeaways
ChatGPT - to brainstorm scenarios and instructional flow

4. Present Content: Engaging Vyond animation showing all four styles
5. Provide Guidance: Job aid introduced near the end
6. Elicit Performance: Interactive quiz with realistic scenarios
7. Provide Feedback: Explanatory feedback after each quiz response

Mayer’s Multimedia Principles:
Applied principles like coherence, signalling, and redundancy to reduce cognitive overload in the animated videos and Rise content.Bloom’s Taxonomy:
Activities are designed to move learners from understanding to applying and analyzing leadership decisions in context.Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation:
Level 1: Engaging UX + learner satisfaction
Level 2: Knowledge checks + scenario-based questions
Level 3: On-the-job behaviour change via the downloadable job aid
What I Learned
This project reinforced that impactful leadership development doesn't require hours of content; it requires relevance. By building short, emotionally resonant scenarios and pairing them with a clear, practical tool, I saw how managers could quickly connect theory to action. The biggest insight? When learners recognize their own team dynamics in a story, they're far more likely to pause, reflect, and change how they lead.
Downloadable Job Aid
To support on-the-job application, I created a one-page printable job aid that summarizes the key actions for each leadership style. Color-coded and easy to scan, it gives managers a quick reference for adapting their leadership in real conversations, whether they're coaching a new hire or delegating to a high-performing team member.
Designed in Canva and aligned with the course visuals, it’s a practical takeaway that bridges training and performance.
